What Is AHEC?

Oregon Pacific Area Health Education Center was established in 1993 in partnership with Oregon Health Sciences University to improve the education, training, and distribution of health care professionals in northwest Oregon. Our organization focuses on activities to help recruit and retain health care professionals in rural and underserved communities by:

• Providing community-based education to medical and allied health students
• Supporting and promoting health career programs for K-12 students
• Offering continuing education programs for practicing health professionals
• Giving technical assistance to community-based health organizations
