Complementary Medicine

There are several different classifications of complementary medicine including acupuncture a traditional oriented medicine, chiropractic, holistic and health care including naturopathic health care and massage/body work. Complementary medicine is becoming more popular in the United States and recent congressional mandate established the National Institute of Health, Office of Alternative Medicine (OAM). The purpose of the OAM is to facilitate the evaluation of complementary medicine treatment modalities for the purpose of determining their effectiveness and to help integrate effective treatments into mainstream medical practice.
